Chapter titles show by default on loading new movie

Binary package hint: totem

Whenever I watch a movie in "movie player" it plays "chapter 1" etc in place of subtitles. It can be turned off in the menu options. But then next time you load a movie, it defaults back to on.

Any way a new default can be set for the subtitles state?

In GConf, /apps/totem/autoload_subtitles is set to false, so this is unexpected.

The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME

I've already submitted upstream (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=621853), but it was closed as I failed to provide a test case. The problem is that I don't own the copyright on my videos, and, even if I did, I don't have a way to upload such big videos anywhere... So, if anyone has a redistributable and lightweight test-case, it would be very helpful to help the upstream developer.

Upstream bug closed as a duplicate of #628790 which
is showing "RESOLVED FIXED" as of 2013-03-02
Checked ok in Ubuntu 18.04 so closing as fixed
