Bug Description

Binary package hint: totem-xine

I have just tried out Ubuntu Center, but get this (style) error when using ampache and totem-xine (note, this does not happen in totem-gstreamer, however, I cannot use gstreamer due to its poor DVD support):

Totem could not play 'http://127.0.0.1/center/music/play/index.php?song=2311&uid=0&sid=5901d4de0a5f4fd7582ade5b289720f2&ds=&name=/Red Hot Chili Peppers - Death of a Martian.mp3'.

There is no input plugin to handle the location of this movie

Thanks for your bug. What version of Ubuntu do you use? Is that specific to a playlist? Does running "totem http://127.0.0.1/center/music/play/index.php?song=2311&uid=0&sid=5901d4de0a5f4fd7582ade5b289720f2&ds=&name=/Red Hot Chili Peppers - Death of a Martian.mp3" from a command line works fine?

Note that you can use totem as media player and an another software as DVD player, there is nothing forcing use to have the same software for them

1) I am using Dapper.
2) Running it from a console has the same effect.
3) I just like to use totem - it fits in well, and is nice and simple; while still being quite powerful.

do you have a public URI to try that? Does it work with xine-ui on the same URI?

Sorry, I have no public URI, and it does work perfectly with xine-ui.

All mp3 files from Magnatune do this. Example:

http://he3.magnatune.com/all/01-Rocket%20City%20Riot_%20Down%20with%20Her-Magnatune%20Compilation.mp3

(or just try clicking on any of their m3u playlists)

The mentioned stream works nicely in both: totem-xine and totem-gstreamer for me.

works fine with totem-gstreamer on edgy for me. Do you have any message when running "totem http://he3.magnatune.com/all/01-Rocket%20City%20Riot_%20Down%20with%20Her-Magnatune%20Compilation.mp3" ?

Can you attach the output of dpkg -l gstreamer0.10-plugins\* | grep ^ii ?

Could you run "gst-launch-0.10 -v playbin uri=http://he3.magnatune.com/all/01-Rocket%20City%20Riot_%20Down%20with%20Her-Magnatune%20Compilation.mp3"

and maybe get a debug log with "GST_DEBUG_NO_COLOR=1 GST_DEBUG=3 gst-launch-0.10 -v playbin uri=http://he3.magnatune.com/all/01-Rocket%20City%20Riot_%20Down%20with%20Her-Magnatune%20Compilation.mp3 &> gstlog"

Well, OK. I've done that, and it works. But I don't really see how it'll help, since I'm using totem-xine. That's why it says in the description: "Binary package hint: totem-xine".
