alsamixer Master Front volume keeps zeroing

Binary package hint: totem

To get sound I push the "Master Front" slider of alsamixer to maximum in a terminal session. But within a week it will be zeroed again. I expect a volume setting to stay put until I change it.

Thank you for your bug report. The issue is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug the to the people writting the software (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME)

I experience the same problem. Why do you think it is a problem with Gnome?

Second question first. I don't think it has anything to do with Gnome. This was the first place I found where bugs are reported in Linux. There was a quick brush-off reply but they didn't have the courtesy to direct me to the appropriate site to report this bug.

My alsamixer has hit a new record of 2 weeks without turning off using this possible fix from a fellow on an automotive chat group who knows Linus Torvalds:

Edit the file:

/etc/pulse/default.pa

Search for the line:
load-module module-hal-detect
or
load-module module-udev-detect
Change to:
load-module module-hal-detect tsched=0
or
load-module module-udev-detect tsched=0

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running apport-collect <bug #> and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue
