When using the youtube plugin, it is impossible to search a new video with a blank space in the search string : each space bar press act as a play/pause and don't insert a blank space in the search field.

Steps to reproduce :

1. Open totem.
2. Show the right pannel if it is not already visible.
3. Choose "YouTube" from the drop box.
4. Enter any key word in the search field, click search.
5. Pick any video from the search results and watch it.
6. Enter a new search string, containing a blank space.

Expected behaviour : when pressing the space key, a blank space appears in the search field.

Observed behaviour : the video play/pause.

Alright, I don't understand anything !

I reproduced this bug on 4 different systems : 3 ubuntu 8.10 and one 9.04, but I can't find anyone (here or on irc) who can reproduce this bug.

What can be wrong ?

That also works fine here, on step number 6 did you clicked again on the search entry? or are you typing on the video list collection? Either way works fine here, but if you press space on the video list it restarts the video which is expected btw.

Changed in totem (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Low
assignee: nobody → desktop-bugs
status: New → Incomplete

Thanks for your comment Pedro, but I do put the focus on the search field. I type some other keyword and when I press the specebar, the video restart and no blank space is added to the search field.

Note that it works fine when I try to search multiple words BEFORE I watch any video.

Cannot reproduce it either then, this needs to be confirmed (by someone else than the reporter) and probably be send upstream at bugzilla.gnome.org by a person having the issue, works fine here, thanks.

I'm reporting this bug upstream.

Bug was already reported in gnome bugzilla :

It appears that this problems only occurs when the "French Alternative" keyboard layout is used. That explains why so few of you could reproduce this problem.

Switching to "France Lagacy" layout fix the problem.

This bug was also reported earlyer in launchpad :
