Bug Description

I'm using totem-gstreamer with the latest dapper. When I put in my video DVD (Radiohead: Live at Astoria), Totem will come up automatically and try to play the DVD. I get this error (This is perhaps my favorite error ever):
"Totem was not able to play this disc.

No reason."
If I then go to Movie... Play Disc RADIOHEAD, I will get a more descriptive error message:
"Totem cannot play this type of media (DVD) because you do not have the appropriate plugins to handle it."
This is another problem, but this error message gives no directions on how to install the plugins. Maybe a "See this page for details" with a link to the wiki or docs?

The "No reason" error message comes up even when using totem-xine is installed. But going to Movie.. Play disk will make the movie play fine.

I get the same problem. I have the Medibuntu repository added and I have all the gstreamer plugins loaded.
If you say that this is a duplicate report Sebastien then please reference the original because I cannot find it.

I went for a normal Ubuntu installation with Totem as the default Movie Player,
added a few Gstreamer plug-ins via 'Add/Remove'
but I still cannot play my DVDs anymore. All this used to work under Feisty.
(Very frustrating to see no progress on the DVD playback front...How am I supposed to spread Ubuntu if basic stuff like that doesn't work?)

At first Totem recognized that additional plug-ins were missing and started the automatic codec installation process.
Once that completed it still complained with this error message:
Totem cannot play this type of media (DVD) because it does not have the appropriate plugins to be able to read from the disc.

Then I started Totem from the command line and this is what I saw:

me@my-dell:~$ totem
sh: jackd: not found

*** libdvdread: CHECK_VALUE failed in ifo_read.c:710 ***
*** for cell_playback[i].first_sector <= cell_playback[i].last_vobu_start_sector ***

*** Zero check failed in ifo_read.c:731
    for cell_position[i].zero_1 = 0x04

I see that this has been a problem, Ubuntu is aware of it, but how am I supposed to watch a movie? I am completely unfamiliar, and is there another dvd player that Ubuntu works with?
thanks
