Bug Description

Binary package hint: totem-gstreamer

How to reproduce:
 Watching a particular flash movie (type flv) with totem that uses gstreamer. At a precise point in the movie, the play reset to the beginning. Running totem from command line gives the following output:
"

(totem:25767): GStreamer-CRITICAL **: gst_object_unref: assertion `object != NULL' failed

(totem:25767): GStreamer-CRITICAL **: gst_object_unref: assertion `object != NULL' failed

(totem:25767): GStreamer-CRITICAL **: gst_object_unref: assertion `object != NULL' failed
"

What's expected: no crash.

I have used two other video players (avidemux-gtk and vlc) with the same video and both stop at the same position in the video. So the problem comes from the file: the video must be corrupted. The play resets to the beginning because I have the "repeat mode" on.

So the problem is that totem (and the other video players I have tested) does not yield an error when the video is corrupted: in my case, the video is detected as a 1h30 video but the play stops at 8 min 43 seconds. The user does not know why: is it a bug from totem? or does it come from the video file? >>>There is simply no error message.

This bug report is not relevant anymore and it may be closed.

closing the bug since that's the video being broken and not the player being buggy, totem could be smarter but that's not really something that would be easy and the ubuntu team doesn't have the ressources to work on such changes
