Bug Description

Binary package hint: totem

Hello,

When i want to use again the input text area of totem's youtube search engine, i can't enter the space character : " ". Totem is holding the video at pause and play again when a use the space key.

This is the normal behavior of totem but not of the input text area.

I'm reporting it as a bug because the first time, this input area is working as expected : it's accept the space character.

Hi Danilo,

to reproduce it, first enter a text in the area and launch a search, double clik on a video. Enter again in the text area and type a text with a space character. Your video should hold on pause and the space character should not appear in the text area.

Hi,
I recorded the desktop. I hope it will explain my problem much better than i can (sorry for my english).

So in this video, first i type "ubuntu compiz" in the text area, i double click on the second item of the search result list. When the video is playing, i enter again in the text area and remove the space character. Each time i try to enter again this space character using the space bar of my keyboard, it switching the video from play to pause like we can see in this video (i hope).

If you want more explanation/video, don't hesitate.

Thanks for your attention guys...

could this be a theme issue? can you change you gtk theme, and see if that resolves the issue.

The problem is with the Français-Autre keyboard layout. When I switch to the Français-Legacy Alternative, the problem is resolved.

Hi beytullah-gunduz,

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn` too.

From the upstream bug mentioned in comment #11, this seems not to be xkeyboard-config but rather a gtk issue.
