Totem doesn't refresh blank areas leaving menus and controls elements visible

Bug Description

When I play a movie and change to fullscreen the controls aren't visible. When
mouse is moved the controls appear correctly. After a short period of time the
controls stop working (the clock stops) and are still visible instead of proper
fadeout. I'm using totem 1.0.1, totem-xine 1.0.0 and nvidia propierty drivers.

Hi. I'm having the same problem here in my amd64, but the bug is related to
the refreshing of totem's window. I have 2 computers, a laptop & an amd64
workstation.
The amd64 has an nvidia gforce with xorg's drivers, the laptop an ati X600 with
xorg's driver.
In my laptop this problem doesn't happen. I'm using both computers with
totem-xine backend.

This bug is incorrectly named, since the problem is with totem refreshing the
main window, as a side effect, the controls don't fade away in fullscreen & the
playtime is incorrect.

I forgot to say I'm using breezy up to date.

duffman25, you are correct on the naming. I haven't previously noted that this
happens also in windowed mode due to automatic resize of the window.
Changed bug name from "Totem controls don't fade to black in fullscreen" to
"Totem doesn't refresh blank areas leaving menus and controls elements visible".
There are upstream bug reports on this: I marked this bug as UPSTREAM.

thanks for the comment. Could you comment on an upstream bug pointing this bug
for gnome guys?

I've noticed that if I change totem_config to use opengl as the video driver, I can't reproduce this bug. However, if I use OpenGL, the playback is not as smooth, so I can't win, can I? Are there any other video drivers besides OpenGL and XV?
