Totem freezes when selecting subtitle

Bug Description

When selecting a subtitle when something is playing in the background it freezes. If you pause a video and select a subtitle it will not freeze.

Upstream bug is a duplicate of #683504
which was closed "RESOLVED FIXED" 2014-02-16
No comments here for 5 years so closing as fixed
