firefox plugin does not work correctly

After upgrade from Edgy to Feisty:
When opening a video in firefox the plugin shows the movie controls but never begins to play any content.

Thanks for your bug. Do you use totem-gstreamer or totem-xine?

totem-xine. And it is not quite right - SOMETIMES (don't ask me under what conditions) it works after some seconds. But 95% it doesn't.

BTW: when I play the video in totem itself it works - but it mostly lags. It seems like the streaming is not working properly anymore. All these things were working with edgy just fine!

duplicate of bug #107050 then. Using totem-gstreamer is recommended nowadays it works better than xine

Are you joking me? Gstreamer does not play DVDs and has serious issues with various codec - even in Feisty. Technically I think gstreamer is great - but I wonder how many years one has to wait till it is as versatile as mplayer or xine.

No, gstreamer doesn't play DVD but you can use an another application for that. I read most of the totem-gstreamer and totem-xine bug. The gstreamer team is really reactive and the number of crashes sent by people using xine seems to be higher. Maybe you have some gstreamer0.10-plugins not installed. Or maybe you have running in special cases, in which one you should report bugs so they get fixed rather than doing random assumption of gstreamer being buggy

The quite strange thing is that xine was working fine in edgy. I wonder what changes were done.
Ok, I'll try to cope with gstreamer - but I warn you I'll create a bug for everything that's not working ;)
BTW: The plugin really works using gstreamer.
