Bug Description

Check if you are using third party repositories. If so disable them, since they are a common source of problems.
Furthermore run the following command in a Terminal: apt-get install -f
Transaction failed: The package system is broken

You edited /lib/systemd/system/tor.service. This caused invoke-rc.d to fail (because tor was not running) and a missing error handling function was invoked from the prerm script for the old version of tor.

Ubuntu 16.04 reached end of standard support on April 2021. Please upgrade to an Ubuntu release under standard support and try to reproduce this bug.
