Bug Description

Binary package hint: tomcat6

/etc/cron.daily/tomcat6 comes with the tomcat package and deletes all war files' log files after 14 days. i would argue that nothing should be deleted without explicit permission of the user - this is especially since there is nothing in logrotate for tomcat and yet there's a lone script in cron.daily that deletes logs. lost some valuable data because of this :(

Agreed, this looks unwarranted.

Changed in tomcat6 (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Wishlist
status: New → Confirmed
summary: - tomcat cron deletes app log files after 14 days
+ tomcat cron should not delete app log files after 14 days by default

This would appear to be still the case, and in Debian's packages as well. Would you be willing to file this is a bug there?
