tomcat 5.5 does not start due to catalina.out fifo

Bug Description

Binary package hint: tomcat5.5

I installed tomcat5.5 tomcat5.5-admin tomcat5.5-webapps and failed connecting to localhost:8180.
/etc/init.d/tomcat status reported no server was running.
After cat /var/log/catalina.out, the server started. I tried it several times: As soon as catalina.out is read, the server is unblocked. So I replaced the fifo by an ordinary file. No problems since.

Correction: The fifo in question is "/var/log/tomcat5.5/catalina.out" and the init-Script is "/etc/init.d/tomcat5.5"

Hi, this is a duplicate of bug #97096 which is fixed in Gutsy and Debian. Backport request to fix the issue is currently pending.
