My prefs.xml also had

    <search_window_x_pos>-32000</search_window_x_pos>
    <search_window_y_pos>-32000</search_window_y_pos>

Can confirm that the fix mentioned in post #13 and #14 works. I also have a single monitor layout, like commenter #14.
