Bug Description
Binary package hint: timidity-daemon
After installing timidity vlc/totem can't access audio device, mplayer plays without problems (playing second file at the same time -> second mplayer crashes). Removing timidity brings sound back.

I have the same issue, I believe this to be due to timidity not working with pulse audio. So I will mark this as a duplicate of Bug #210472.
