When using an IMAP server and set Thunderbird to empty trash on exit, Thunderbird doesn't quit. When you press the cross button on the title list, Thunderbird closes all its windows, but the process always stays always memory.
You can't start Thunderbird again with this option, it says it is still running. You need to kill the process first.
Unchecking "empty on exit" when using IMAP and you can start Thunderbird repeatedly.
(When using POP it always works as expected.)
