Bug Description

Just the subj. It doesn't matter if I choose to show only inbox folder or not in the settings.
I think it should be made configurable to opt Junk folder out.

Also, it isn't enough to simply mark such junk messages as "read" to reset the icon; you need to restart Thunderbird to make the icon go inactive again (assuming no new messages arrived).

Bug still in Thunderbird 8.0 (8.0+build1-0ubuntu0.11.10.1).

Sometimes the tray icon isn't colored for new legitimate mail (i.e. not junk). This has already caused me to miss the arrival of a few urgent emails :(

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

Changed in thunderbird (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed
