Bug Description

thunderbird should honor the location where it was closed last time and open at the same position when started.
for example: on my dual monitor setup, thunderbird opens on the first screen in fullscreen mode. i then move it to the second screen and close theunderbird. opening it again, thunderbird opens on the first screen instead of screen 2.

This is now particularly annoying with the Unity interface as Thunderbird keeps starting in such a position that it pushes the launcher off screen.

This still seems to be an issue with Thunderbird 60.4 and Ubuntu 18.04.

If I move Thunderbird to the secondary monitor and close it (not maximised) it will re-open on the primary monitor maximised. I'll look for an upstream bug report.

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:64.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/64.0

Steps to reproduce:

I moved Thunderbird (window not maximised) to the secondary display and later closed it.

 * I'm using Thunderbird 60.4.0, Ubuntu 18.04, GNOME Shell 3.28
 * Originally reported against Thunderbird 7.0.1 and Ubuntu 11.10
 * Launchpad bug: http://launchpad.net/bugs/868175

My apologies if this has already been reported as I feel that it must have been but I couldn't find a similar report after 30 minutes of searching.

Actual results:

When relaunched, Thunderbird opened maximised on the primary display.

Expected results:

I expected Thunderbird to re-open with the same window state (not maximised) on the same display on which it was closed.

Changed in thunderbird:
importance: Unknown → Medium
status: Unknown → Confirmed

Hmm, a friend of mine complained about this today on Windows. I've just tried myself and TB comes back on the screen where I closed it, maximised or not.
