Bug Description

Binary package hint: thunderbird

Thunderbird 3.1.8+build3+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.10.04.1 segfaults several times a day for several persons in our office, but not everybody. We are all running Lucid Lynx 10.04.2 LTS. The crashes seem to be random and don't appear to be linked to a particular activity or task. It might be of interest that we are using ldap, I know that ldap has been a problem with thunderbird in the past.

I attached gdb to thunderbird and got the following error and backtrace:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

I use Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS. Since late May/ early June 2011 Thunderbird has been crashing randomly on me. Subsequently I have been starting it in a terminal and each time it crashes (about once a day) it says 'Segmentation fault'.
I am using Thunderbird version 3.1.10 (3.1.10+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.10.04.1).

I have noticed no other stability problems other than Firefox but this has been crashing randomly for much longer already and I have learnt to live with it, ascribing it to problematic web pages or scripts. I do not start it from a terminal so I see no error messages apart from the 'Oops' dialog given by Firefox.

Hello Laurent,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird.

You made this bug report in 2011 and there have been several versions of Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 750705

and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.

G
