thunderbird has black menu text with dark theme

Using the theme New Wave, Thunderbird has black text on the dark gray menu bar. Firefox and other applications have light text.

No, it is a mozilla issue that has apparently been fixed in firefox but not thunderbird.

One thing I noticed is that in Lightning extension, the month and year choices don't follow the theme colors. See the attached image. I noticed even Skype's popup option would be behave similarly unless you change option in Skype to use "GTK+" theme. No such choice in Thunderbird.

Also the little circular "Progress" icon in the far right corner is barely visible in Thunderbird.

In my installation firefox and thunderbird both have black menu font. This happens after installation of kubuntu-desktop package.

Got the same Bug with Ubuntu MATE 16.04. I've found no solution.
