I've got the same bug but in my case I'm able to start Thunderbird. However, it crashes randomly (seemingly) after it's already been open for a while.

I attached everything from 2 apport automated crash reports except for the 300 MB core dumps. If someone really wants them I can upload it.

Note the second crash dump was from when I was still running the daily builds of Thunderbird 3 from the Mozilla Daily PPA. The first one I'd switched back to the regular Ubuntu builds.

Hello Matt,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird.

You made this bug report in 2010 and there have been several versions of Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 534520

and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.

G
