Thunderbird does not honor network-manager offline state

thunderbird (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

Binary package hint: thunderbird

When I am starting thunderbird without any network connection it doesn't activate offline mode automatically, but ten(!) error messages (Failed to connect to server) pop up. This is very annoying.

I tried to change the "offline.startup_state" and "offline.autoDetect" setting, but nothing changes. Firefox detects the offline state correctly though.

There is a discussion about this at Ubuntu brainstorm, but I think it's a bug because it works in firefox.

There is a config option that is true by default. I've just set this to false and now the offline status is synchronised with network-manager's. Let's see how this goes.

I changed the value of the key to false, but offline status is still not synchronized with NM.
Are you using Ubuntu Maverick or any other Ubuntu version?

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

Changed in thunderbird (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed
