Default window size of Preferences window insufficient

After a Dapper upgrade, the default window size of the Thunderbird Preferences window is too small to display the contents of various tabs. The window can be resized manually and functionality isn't affected, but it looks sloppy (and there is no scroll bar to indicate that there are more options that are being obscured).

I confirm this bug using dapper 20060422 and thunderbird 1.5-0ubuntu6.

Resizing the Preferences window is indeed possible but after closing Preferences the size is not remembered requiring manual resizing all the time which is really annoying.
The Preferences window should remember the size or should appear large enough to display the content of the tab with the biggest content.

What screen resolutions do you use? Same behaviour no matter what resolution you choose?

Anyone can see this issue in edgy too?

I have since upgraded to version 6.10 (Edgy) and it seems the problem is still there.

My resolution is 1024x768. I tried at 800x600 and didn't notice a change in behaviour.

OK, can you please attach a screenshot and drop a note what is configured in

  Preferences->Display->Fonts->[Fonts...]->Display Resolution ?

Maybe changing that settings might help? (Note: restarting thunderbird is needed)

In next firefox gutsy upload we will try to return to default upstream geometries aka window-sizing.

Please report any problems you encounter after that update to new/separate bugs.

Hi,

I am getting this with Intrepid, and TB version 2.0.0.19 (20090105)

The Prefs window opens with a size which depends upon which tab was selected when you had it open last. Therefore if you go to a tab with more info on it, the bottom parts may be missing. How long I searched for the Composition -> General -> 'Send Options' button!!!!!!!!!!

had same problem with tb 2.0.0.21 on ubuntu intrepid. adjusted setting in about:config layout.frames.force_resizability to true. fixed layout issue but still doesn't work with lightning.
