Thunderbird-3.0 has been released as stable for a while now. However our PPA that you listed above is for pre release of 3.0.1 (security update.
I spoke to Alexander yesterday and we will be packaging it for Lucid.

I don't no this is help or not, but I am using Thunderbird 3.0 stable
version with Lucid, and don't see any problem.
I am installed Thunderbird 3.0 hungarian localized version with
Ubuntuzilla. I am using i386 architecture. But, I am only one person. :-):-)

You wroted:
"Thunderbird 3 is such a big step forward in performance and search that
it would be a shame if it didn't make lucid."
I am interesting only: have a problem with do difficulter with packaging
or destroiing the stability purpose with Lucid?

It seems like people are jumpy so I will comment. The bug is targeted
for Lucid Alpha 3 which is the last Alpha due in late Feb. Thunderbird
3 will be in there. I thought I would have had more time at the end of
last year, but that was not the case. Lucid will have it.

Well xulrunner applications like firefox & thunderbird are really huge, take a look at the current packaging it is huge & complex plus with such a major release you need to get the languages & legal cross-checks right. And it takes a while to build and test. It's a big job to tackle and the availability of human hours is the constrain. (Technologically it is possible). Just be patient and wait =) or help testing the daily ppa.

Hi,

I'm not sure whether it youwas already mentioned here but please consider disabling the Global Search and the downloading of IMAP messages in Thunderbird 3.0 by default. I know it's really a neat feature but it may also create loads of needless traffic on local networks when people have alot of mail in their inboxes. Also, it keeps the computer busy when indexing all the mail, especially a caveat on slower machines.

Any users who need it can enable it again over the menus. Furthermore, it would be nice to have a checkbox to enable/disable Global Indexing/Mail Downloading for IMAP in the setup wizard which is shown on first run of Thunderbird 3.0.

Just read that Thunderbird 3.1 will be, if the are not problems, released on April 6. So maybe if Lucid is released, there is allready a new minor version of Thunderbird available.
But I think, as the Lucid and Thunderbrid 3.1 release dates are so close, there is no chance to get Thunderbird 3.1 into Lucid!?!

Thunderbird has had it's own xulrunner in-source copy for a while. It
won't speed it up...anyways, almost done.
