Startup always offline

Binary package hint: thunderbird

Lately, Thunderbird always starts up OFFLINE and even when i close Thun being online, it starts up being online.
Very annoying!
I searched for clues in prefs.js but all "isOffline" sttings are on FALSE.
FYI The last add on i installed was Google Contacts and before that it was Google IMAP account setup. Maybe it is in there.

Please provide verions or everything including extensions/addons themes ect.. version of network-manager would help as well.

IMAP or POP or both?

I think it is only IMAP because gmail imap is the last account i added,
but i did not notice it immediately afterwards. All the others are POP
and have been around for years in Thunderbird.

Hi John,
It took some puzzling but I made it work. I kept thinking the problem
with starting up offline had to do with the gmail/imap add-on.

1. Removed imap/gmail, not solution.
2. Tried offline.startup_state using 1,2,3,4 and 0: no avail. Kept it on 0.
3. Removed all references to gmail from prefs.js by hand, when Thun was
off.: still Thun started up offline.
4. Lastly I used the Thunderplunger add-on to remove any traces of the
imap gmail account: That worked!
Now Thunderbird starts up online again, as I wnat it to do.

It seems that this problem has nothing to do with Ubuntu, but all with
the gmail/imap addon that probably was updated a short while ago, after
I installed it initially.

As far as I am concerned: Status: Done => Completed

Hi Jonathan,
Problem was solved by removing Google contacts.
BTW the problem was brought up a long time ago and i did not try to add
Google contacts again.

I had this problem too and I found this report when googling

I only started having the problem when I installed this plugin to thunderbird:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/google-contacts/

FWIW, this is with fedora17, not ubuntu, so it's definitely not a problem with ubuntu distribution.
