Bug Description
Binary package hint: thunderbird
Hi,
Thunderbird's Address book does not know how to authenticate via SASL. It only use simple ldap authentication.
It would be nice to be able to authenticate with a SASL user name when it's proposed by the serveur. This could also be configured with a checkbox (as is the SSL usage).
Cheers,
Clément Hermann

Hello Clement.
Thanks for submitting this bug and reporting a suggested improvement for Thunderbird.
You made this bug report in 2008 and there have been several versions of Thunderbird since then.
Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket? Or, if it is still a problem, could you come to Launchpad and make a comment to that effect?
Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.
