Bug Description
Binary package hint: thunderbird
In the previous bug-reports there are some similar to this, but non of them applied directly to my problem as fare as I can tell.
I have moved from a Windows XP installation to a dual-boot Windows XP and Ubuntu 8.04 installation. In order to get Thunderbird to work on both OS I have copied Profiles from the default windows possition to a FAT32 partition, that both Windows and Ubuntu can access. With the profile manager I have got Thunderbird to use the same profile for both OS and it works like a charm.
But when I shut-down Thunderbird in Ubuntu the .parentlock file is never deleted and therefore I can't start Thunderbird after a laptop restart without deleting it manually as a workaround. I have checked the access rights to the Profiles directory in Ubuntu and the current user as "delete" access to files in the directory, so I think that should be fine or is there something else that must be made with access rights for it to work?
Check below for access information on the profile in use:
mdh@mdh-
total 32
drwx------ 4 mdh root 32768 2008-07-25 11:18 p5r19wec.default
Likewise for the .parentlock file:
mdh@mdh-
-rwx------ 1 mdh root 0 2008-07-25 10:10 .parentlock
My Profiles.ini looks like this:
[General]
StartWithLastPr
[Profile0]
Name=default
IsRelative=1
Path=Profiles/
Default=1
By the way I know about setting up a work-around with a delete script at start-up, but I would rather fix the actual error than the symptom.

Solved the problem. It was due to me FAT32 being mounted "late" after adding the mount to /etc/fstab Thunderbird works perfect and .parentlock is removed as expected.
