Bug Description

Binary package hint: thunderbird

when i'm writing a mail with thunderbird, sometimes the title bar and the frame of the new-message-window disappear. this happens while i'm writing the subject line of the mail, but only until i have hit the next letter. for example, i write "hal", nothing happens, "hall", it disappears, "hallo", it reappears. weird. i am using ubuntu 8.04 and thunderbird 2.0.0.14. thank you!

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I have a few questions that I need to have answered so I can start to triage this bug:

1) Do you have visual effects enabled?
2) Does this problem happen in any other application?

Thanks,

Richard Seguin

Sorry, I thought I had answered this questions. Maybe it was in the other thread, I remember there were two of them and one was closed. Well, however:
1) Visual Effects are enabled ("Extra" out of the options "Keine", "Normal" and "Extra" my German Ubuntu-Version gives me).
2) I never noticed it in any other application than Mozilla Thunderbird.
I apologize for the inconvenience and hope you are successful eliminating this bug! :-)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner.
There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test the current Ubuntu development version (10.04). If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect 234134, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
