2023-02-07 07:15:47 L. P. Luigi Espenlaub bug added bug
2023-02-07 07:30:27 L. P. Luigi Espenlaub description "Thunderbird" does not exist in Ubuntu. Please choose a different package. If you're unsure, please select "I don't know" Surprise, at least to me, Apport list the executable path as the one to Thunderbird. Since the Window titles are: Choose Application > Another Application, I will use if allowed "Choose Application" as the package title. Oops again "Choose Application" does not exist in Ubuntu. Please choose a different package." Apport knows, but "I don't know" it must be, I guess. Note: there is a related bug I have uploaded with an Apport file that may point to a common underlying problem. In case I cannot link the two, it is titled "Ubuntu Studio Settings Default Applications; lists no installed Web browsers" To Reproduce 1. Load Ubuntu Studio Ubuntu Studio 22.04 2. Open Thunderbird 3. Open a email form window 4. Enter a reasonable email address and title 5. Enter some text in the body 6. Click [send] This pop up is displayed -------------- Choose an Application to open the HTTP link. Choose other Application [Choose] ------------- Click [Choose] Find not a list of applications as expected, but instead the general file system > Recent [list of files]. leaving the non-OS savvy user with the question, "How do I find one of these?" For example in looking for the Firefox executable which I prefer, I had to open Konsole, and use whereis to find Firefox: /snap/bin/Firefox However finding out which of the following executables to select and [open]: * Firefox, * Firefox.geckodriver, or * geckodriver is information I have not yet to find in Ask.Ubuntu, Mozilla help or a general Google search, thus indicating an even more frustrating if not hopeless search for that "Non-OS savvy user" above. While not a system stopper, I look forward to a fix for other users and myself of this Amazing OS and Set Of Applications that you magical people have created. That is, a fix that keeps some part of Ubuntu Studio from nagging myself and others to "Choose an Application to open the HTTP link." then not providing a way of doing it.
