thunderbird hangs on start

On startup, even with safe-mode, thunderbird hangs before you can click anything, you get the pop-up "Thunderbird does not answer" with the options exit and wait. I have two IMAP accounts and 10 calendars configured.
This is on Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS with thunderbird 102.2.2+build1-0ubuntu0.22.04.1.

I have tested 102.3.2 from thunderbird.net, after profile migration it worked fine, so the bug is either in 102.2.2 or in the Ubuntu package.

On Ubuntu 18.04, thunderbird 102.2.2+build1-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 just does nothing on startup. In the status line, you can read the name of one of the mail accounts and that it is checking for server functionality.

OK, it is less bad, if I leave thunderbird running for half an hour, it continues to react to input.

Can you test the Ubuntu package from https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-mozilla-security/+archive/ubuntu/ppa (thunderbird 1:102.3.3+build1-0ubuntu0.22.04.1 and let us know whether it fixes the problem?

1:102.3.3+build1-0ubuntu0.22.04.1 is working fine and is fixing the problem.

It is fixed in the latest official update on Ubuntu 18.04: 102.4.2+build2-0ubuntu0.18.04.1
