=====
The above started to happen after upgrading Kubuntu to 2020. I tried base package first, then added snap version. Same situation in either one. Some links from the same email message work, some do not. It's this obsession to "protect me from ugly world out there" that seem to screwup the Thunderbird.
The only way to get to most of the links is with cut/paste

===== Observation:
Logs are also very poor compared to terse messages 20+ years ago. Time for people to learn the difference between developer debugging messages and application logs mostly used by systems administrators. Redundancy, long paragraphs, etc.
"... Error: Error while loading 'jar:file:///snap/thunderbird/127/omni.ja!..."

OF COURSE ITS FREAKING ERROR!!!
No need for stinking HTML in most emails anyway. Message is a message regardless of the font used to show it. HTML noise is taking way more space than the messages.

===== FYI
I use Thunderbird and Firefox since the beginning and Linux since 1994. Thunderbird has never been so buggy! If this continues I'll need to go back to Mutt or Pine I guess.
Linux sysadmin, Rafael
