Ubuntu 20.04 package out of date

Sadly in ubuntu even LTS distributions only hardly receiving security/bug fix updates

The thunderbird package in 20.04 is out of date since a long time and has many security issues.

Edit:
Current Ubuntu 20.04 version is 68.10 from 2020-07-01
Newest version is 78.5 from 2020-11-17
List of security issues found in 68.10 which got fixed in 78.5 upstream.

you found exactly

please edit your description with your full story

and run apport-collect 1905025 from a terminal
to pull relevant info about your system into this bug

I wrote 20.04 in the title.

20.04 is focal.

Focal only got version 68.10 on 2020-07-08 which got released on 2020-07-01.

Now the newest version is 78.5.0 from 2020-11-17

4.5 months AFTER the last thunderbird release in ubuntu 20.04 LTS

and the security fixes are declared on their homepage!

How the ubuntu LTS releases, which are focused on stability and security fixes, are handled by the company canoncial is devastating.
It's okay that a open source community doesn't have the ressources, but ubuntu is made by a company. And this company makes me angry.

After 15 years with ubuntu with the same trouble I should search for another linux distribution.
