switching profile removes bottom of the email body

in the two identities i use for the signature the same text file. it contains something like this:

:)
--
name.

and several lines more with my official address. i write emails in txt mode only and i also automatically attach vCard by default in both cases.

if i first write the email text and then switch the identity to my second one i have some time ago noticed that the last line of the text above the signature vanished. the situation got worse, nowadays two or more lines can disappear, even whole paragraphs.

summary: text above signature vanishes upon identity switch.

desired behavior: written text above the signature should not change upon identity switch.

Hello again Darko,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with signature/profile in Thunderbird. You made this bug report in 2016 and there have been several versions of Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket?
If it is still a problem, are you still interested in finding a solution to this bug?
If you are, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 1543203
and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
