thunderbird-bin crashed with SIGSEGV in __kernel_vsyscall()

Thunderbird had hung after starting program and the inbox had been updated with new mail. Program would not respond to any user input. Clicked on the window's close icon and KDE noted that the program was not responded and allowed me to kill it.
