Bug Description

Even if Thunderbird (with Lightning extension installed) is set as default calendar app from System Settings -> System Information, it is not able to properly manage calendar files from the desktop environment (e.g. *.ics files).

If the procedure at this link is followed (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+3.0/+bug/841409/comments/21), when opening an *.ics file Thunderbird is started. But, instead of activating the calendar view or asking the user to either import the calendar or creating a draft appointment, a new mail message is created. The calendar is put of an attachment to such mail.

Hello igi,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird.

You made this bug report in 2012 and there have been several versions of Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect BUGNUMBER

and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.
