When I right click on 'To' field or the 'Reply-To' in a message, and choose 'Create filter from message...' it register the right adress I have right clicked on, but the field is the From field.

I have attached a screen shot to show it more clearly.

What version of thunderbird and what version of ubuntu are you seeing this problem with. I am unablet o reproduce this. can you please give us an example of a filter that it happens on?
Are you able to see this problem when setting a different filter?

Look at the screen shot to see the filter. At the bottom of the image you can see that it is a 'To' address. But when you create the filter it is set to 'From' also as showed in the image. Notice that the address i quite right - it is the Linux Audio User list, but the item is 'From' instead of 'To' as one would expect.

The only way that the problem does not persist is off cause when filtering on a 'From' address - since it is _always_ defaults to 'From'. Hope this helps, it should be very easy to reproduce. Just right click on any other address other than a 'From' address and choose to filter that.

I can confirm this bug, it is a rather annoying little one, its tiny but nonetheless.

John you stated you could not confirm this bug? Are you using 2.0 where this has been fixed?

Thanks, Alex.

I'm waking this back up because I am experiencing this as well. For my situation, using Thunderbird 2.0.0.21, I tried creating a filter for all Launchpad messages to send them to another folder. I right-clicked on the "Reply-To" address, but when the filter comes up, it shows "From". The filter works, but it just seems that there should be a way to discern "From" from "Reply-To" or "Sender" (which also shows "From" in the created filter).

Let me know if you need more information.

I take that back... The resultant filter does NOT work.

Did you try to use the first option drop down menu to change the filter addresses ect......

Yep. It seems that if I touch the auto-created filter in any way (ie. to change the address, destination folder, and so on), the filter breaks.

Can you please attach the file "msgFilterRules.dat" from inside your profile:
~/.mozilla-thunderbird/*default/Mail/pop.bleh-#.com/msgFilterRules.dat
You may want to cat the file if you have more than 1 address pop.bleh-1.com does not mean it is the default email bax.
if not pop than use imap

Hello Lean,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird. You made this bug report in 2007 and there have been several versions of Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket?
If it is still a problem, are you still interested in finding a solution to this bug?
If you are, could you let us know and, in the current version, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 105918
and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.
G
