While running the livecd, double-clicking on a file or directory does not activate that item in thunar (that is, the file does not open in the application or the folder does not open). Pressing ENTER will activate the item.

Bah, nevermind, this is just due to the broken timing behavior in vmware speeding up the clock, so that double-clicks weren't being registered as such. Closing as Invalid. Sorry for the noise.
