Bug Description

Binary package hint: thunar

Applies to Thunar 0.8.0

The Ctrl+V hotkey for pasting does nothing. The menu entry Edit/Paste works, though.

Strange, I currently cannot reproduce this. Maybe I mixed something up, no idea. Please close this bug, sorry for wasting your time.

I can confirm that CTRL+V pasting fails randomly in Xubuntu Thunar since Karmic. Usually, at the start of the session everything works fine, but after some time it stops working forever. Pasting with the contextual menu works always perfect, and I confirmed that the paths that have been copied to the clipboard are valid. CTRL+V works always correctly in other applications.

This bug can be quite dangerous for the user, because this process fails silently. It can lead to data loss, in a workflow that includes copy-paste & delete-original-file.

Could you please your ~/.xsession-errors log file. I have not been able to reproduce this issue using Thunar 1.0.1 in Xubuntu 10.04 final release.

Could you please attach your ~/.xsession-errors log file as a plain text attachment?

Sorry, Charlie, for not sending the information in all this time. I have been very busy, and haven't been using Thunar very intensively (not much copy/paste). I will try to reproduce the bug, and will send you the log file.
Thank you VERY much for taking this issue so seriously!

Charlie, finally I was able to reproduce the bug again.

It only seems to happen with IMAGE files (jpeg) when I copy/paste within the SAME Thunar window. Pasting from one Thunar to another Thunar works fine.

Pasting simple text files never seems to fail; that's why I was unable to reproduce the bug!

Thanks for reporting this bug and any supporting documentation. Since this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin work, I'm going to mark it as confirmed and let them handle it from here. Thanks for taking the time to make Ubuntu better!
