Bug Description

I connected Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini smart phone via PTP mode USB connection. When I enter a photo directory, displaying it is very slow. A 100 item directory takes about 20 sec to show. Also scrolling is very unresponsive. Even moving to top folder from the photo folder is very slow.

Does your phone have different modes for when it's plugged in (e.g. camera,
media device)? If so, does changing the mode affect this?

Yes, the camera mode is the PTP mode described above. If I choose MTP mode i.e. media device mode, I can list files in a file manager fast, but not read them at all. This goes for both file managers.

I believe this is related to thumbnail handling. It seems that thunar recreates the thumbnails on every scroll event. So if one disables 'Show thumbnails' in the preferences, scrolling is very fast. This behavior is also found for mtp connections.
