secondary keyboard layout affected by thinkfinger virtual keyboard

Bug Description

There was bug #283128 in xkeyboard-config (resolved Sep 2008) but I'm seeing the same issue exhibition when ThinkFinger virtual keybard is attached to send the Enter after the keyfinger scan.

Howto recreate:
When I login to Gnome I see in the keyboard-indicator-applet two configured keyboard layouts (CZE and USA in my example). Both these layouts are shown in the context menu Groups. When I run any command requiring sudo in the terminal I'm asked to enter password or swipe finger, at that moment the secondary layout indicator is changed into "??" text and there is only the primary layout entry in the context menu.

Actually I removed thinkfinger from Jaunty due to the issue described. This has happened also when I plugged in external USB keyboard which has gone after upgrade to current Karmic (xorg, xkb, x-whatever), so I started to use thinkfinger again and I'm not affected with this issue anymore.

So I think it'd make sence to close this bug as it looks that it is not thinkfinger problem. There is ongoing discussion which xserver patch should resolve this in Jaunty, but whatever I tried it was not resolved there.

hi michal,
how did you exactly solved the problem?
did you uninstall completely thinkfinger and then re-installed it?
how did you upgrade the karmic? via synaptic update?

Thanks

If you are brave enough - don't forget Karmic is in alpha state! -
then thoroughly read http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/karmic/alpha2 and
use that upgrade procedure.
