Bug Description
Thinkpad model: X200 7454-2GU
Hi,
I installed Kubuntu 8.10 beta. I don't think the tf-tool works with the new thinkpad model, It says "USB device not found". However, the kernel does see the device.
I installed all these packages already via apt-get:
build-essential libtool libusb-dev libpam0g-dev pkg-config thinkfinger-tools libpam-thinkfinger libthinkfinger0
Any idea how to get 'acquire' working?

Initializing...USB device not found.
Thinkfinger is an inappropriately named project, unfortunately. It's goal is to support the fingerprint reader device in older model thinkpads. Unfortunately the hardware seems to have changed. Doubly unfortunate is that the upstream project is done. If your hardware isn't supported by thinkfinger today, it likely never will be.
The good news is this: thinkfinger has closed up to give way to a broader project called "fprint" that can help you. I would suggest you try fprint, but recent discussion on the mailing list makes it clear: aes2810 is not currently supported in Linux, and the reverse engineering effort will be slow.
If you're interested in helping, for the moment I suggest introducing yourself upstream and offering to help.
