Bug Description

Binary package hint: thinkfinger-tools

After which install of my m1330,
I install my fingerprint reader with thinkfinger-tools.

I can use it with gnome-screeensaver with this workaround at the botton of this page: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_enable_the_fingerprint_reader_with_ThinkFinger

The problem, after resume from suspend to disk, gnome-screensaver ask me to swip my finger or enter the password, BUT after suspend to ram, it ask me only my password. I must presss ENTER on time, then it asks me to swip my finger or enter my password.

How to solve this?

And could you automatise this tweak? It is a little security hole they say, is it for why it isn't activate by default? PolicyKit can maybe solve this??

Please try with the package uploaded to Ubuntu rather than applying work-arounds from the Internet.

I can confirm this using only Ubuntu packages on a fresh Hardy install (and on a second machine). http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_enable_the_fingerprint_reader_with_ThinkFinger#Hardy

If you do a resume within a few seconds of a suspend then you are asked for a fingerprint swipe. If you wait longer then you are not. My guess as to the cause is that the fingerprint hardware (connected as a USB device) takes a few seconds to power off completely and a few to power on completely. When doing a resume after it has powered off, thinkfinger checks for device presence too soon.

Happens on two different freshly installed Thinkpad T61s.

Can confirm this behaviour in ubuntu Jaunty Beta using thinkfinger-tools version 0.3+r118-0ubuntu4. When returning from either suspend to disk or ram, the swipe finger option is not available in gnomescreensaver.
