Hi,

This does not seem to be a bug in the Debian/Ubuntu TeXstudio package and will therefore not be fixed.

It seems that you are trying to install a package that is not part of and therefore not maintained by Debian/Ubuntu. The file you've downloaded does not seem to be suitable for a smooth upgrade. There is a current TeXstudio version (2.12.8+debian-1) in Ubuntu.

Which repositories did you set to get the 2.12.8-1+18.1 package?

If you really intend to switch to this foreign package you need to deinstall every "official" texstudio package before installing this package.

Regards,
Tom

I got the same error. I used the gz files to install Texstudio 2.12.6 and added the PPA in order to upgrade to .10.

Getting this eerror in the installation:

dpkg: error processing archive /tmp/apt-dpkg-install-cr8gIt/8-texstudio_2.12.10-0~201807041908~ubuntu18.04.1_amd64.deb (--unpack):

Hi all,

TeXstudio for Debian (and thus the version contained directly in Ubuntu) is spread over several packages in order to offer you more flexibility (you can install one the packages you want). TeXstudio packaged by upstream is contained in one package only, that's why you get the errors saying that files are already contained in a different package.

If you really want to use the PPA, deinstal TeXstudio first, then install the version from the PPA.

This is not a bug in the TeXstudio package contained in Ubuntu.

Tom

For anyone running into this issue as Tom said you need to remove the Ubuntu-package texstudio, and that includes both the `texstudio` package and the `textstudio-doc` package.

Then you can install the latest Texstudio from the downloaded deb.

I was able to find this using the Synaptic package manager.

You need to run
`sudo apt remove texstudio-doc`
that fixes the issue.
