Spell check adds ampersand with replacement

Bug Description

To reproduce this bug:
1) create a new document
2) type testt
3) right click and select test
4) textt is replaced with t&est instead of test

I tried:
- switching to a different dictionary.
- clearing the ~/.conf/xm1 folder.
- using a different machine.

I tried building texmaker 4.4.1 and 4.3 from source and am having the same problem for both. I didn't have this problem with utopic so I am thinking it might be related to a different version of one of the dependencies.
