Package Manager Error

Hello,

After updating LateX System to install arabic support (texlive-lang-arab) I get every time messages, that the update prozess failes because one of the packages. I tried to de-install the arabic package but this failed and now the package is marked red in the package manager.

Since this this I get all 30 min a windows opened says: "Package Manager Error". If I cick in Details I get this informations:

Hello Sebastien,

which tool do you mean? To de-install the package I used the synaptic package manager. The package is for the tool texlive (LaTeX). Thank you very much for your further help.

Falk,

it seems you have some broken packages. Before doing anything else, you should try to fix that, by running in the terminal:

sudo apt-get update -f

After that try and remove the package again, and see what happens (and please report here). Thanks.

Hello,

thank you very much for your efforts and the response. I executed the command and now seems all fine again. With this I removed all of the package to make the best efforts in re-installing. But after removing I could install texlive again, but there came up some issues with post installing script failures. Now my LaTeX System does not work anymore.

Do you have any hint, what could be the issue here and how to get texlive work again?

Falk, what issues do you actually experience now? Could you please the output of this command:

sudo apt-get install texlive

Alternatively, in Synaptic try to install texlive, and when errors are shown, please copy them here.

Would you please post the output file as indicated in your last comment (/tmp/fmtutil.ywKVqUpwof)?

It sounds like a misconfiguration issue is preventing the installation.
On top of my head, I would suggest to open synaptic and perform a full
removal (not just simple removal) of all packages related to texlive.
Then try the installation again.

I always deinstalled with complete remove of the packages. I already did this again and installed in the meantime the original package 2008 from texlive, which works fine so far.

But I tested again the installation and got now this output:
