I would be delighted to see the LaTeX package "minted" being upgraded to version 2.0 or later. In fact, the LaTeX package "tcolorbox" (also included in texlive-latex-extra) requires it.

No, it is not an issue in later versions of Ubuntu, as they have Minted 2.
