Bug Description

In man page of xdvi (man xdvi), I see the following typos:

- unneccessary -> unnecessary (this is in description of -paper option)

- used for the the magnifier -> the the is doubled (this is in description of the -rulecolor option)

- encosed -> enclosed (this is in the description of the -sourceposition option)

- occurences -> occurrences (this is the description of the -sourceposition option)

- currenlty -> currently (this is in the description of the "Space key" keystroke)

- numbers correspond the the actual page -> the the is doubled (this is in description of the g keystroke)

- turing on -> turning on (this is near end of "STRING SEARCH" section)

- segmeted -> segmented (this is in "PRINT DIALOG" section)

- continously -> continuously (this is in description of "Ruler Mode")

Also, in "man xdvi", I notice that the "-browser" option says "the following default value is used: netscape -raise [...]". Hmmm, netscape is obsolete now. Ubuntu uses Firefox.

Norbert, are you sure this is the right site to post bugs? If I type "apt-cache show texlive-bin" the homepage field says "http://www.tug.org/texlive/". From there I get to "http://www.tug.org/mailman/listinfo/tex-live" which should be the right way to report bugs to them. Can you confirm that?

Depending on te bug. For Debian/Ubuntu bugs the bts/lauchpad is the right.

For things not debian/ubuntu specific this is the right list.

Hm...so it's ok if I report it to http://www.tug.org/mailman/listinfo/tex-live (I am a bit confused because of the sourforge page). Thanks in advance.

Yes it is as I wrote. But for xdvi you can directly report to the xdvi bug
tracker which is better.

I reported it to the mailinglist and got a quick reply. I'm just posting it here:

May be we can already set this bug to "fix committed".

Have you got a URL for the upstream bug report?

google search gives this:

http://www.tug.org/pipermail/tex-live/2009-January/019666.html

These typos are still present man page of xdvi in Ubuntu-9.10 (Karmic Koala)

Can someone see if this has been fixed in lucid? I've tried 'man xdvi' but it doesn't work for me

I checked this in Ubuntu 10.10 and all the listed typos are fixed except for some doubling ("the the"). Closing the bug.

status: Fix Committed → Fix Released
