Old Compaq running Ubuntu server. Has been upgraded since Ubu7. Getting install error during upgrade:

The upgrade has aborted. Your system could be in an unusable state. A

I will google the LD_LIBRARY_PATH to see if I can find what should be there.

There is a LD_LIBRARY_PATH configured in /etc/environment: LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/usr/local/lib/instantclient_11_2"

Is it possibly missing an entry? Is it a semi-colon delimited list?

I am upgrading the server over SSH so I have tried disabling the X11 sessions option referenced in comment #21 on bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/366728

This did not solve the problem.

Issue resolved!!!!

I noticed in /etc/environment that the line with LD_LIBRARY_PATH had a whitespace between LD_ and the "=" sign, I removed the whitespace and reran the update. Boom problem solved.

Please mark this bug as not a bug and solved. TYVM!
