Bug Description

system: ubuntu 6.10
package: tex4ht 20060619-1 and tex4ht-common 20060619-1
package: zip 2.32-1, dvipng 1.5-2.1

I wanted to use the tex4ht to create an HTML file (with htlatex) and a sxw (with oolatex) from a LaTex source. Both didn't word at the beginning.

In the HTML file the eps graphics weren't included. In the LaTex source I included the pictures with the \usepackage{graphix} and the \includegraphics[width=..]{file} command. The pictures included like that weren't in the created .idv file form where they should be taken per page form the dvipng command. But when I included the pictures in LaTex with \Picture{file width=...}, which I had never used before, they were converted to png. Therefore I guess the problem was not the conversion of the pictures but rather the compilation of the LaTex source with the tex4ht.sty package.

The sxw didn't become a zip archive (zip is installed) but a folder was created. When I zip the folder manually and renamed it to .sxw the Ooo couldn't handle it.

I checked the homepage for bugfixes and any hint. There were an new version: http://www.cse.ohio-state.edu/~gurari/TeX4ht/bugfixes.html
I installed the new files and the HTML file were great. But the sxw still doesn't work.
Is it possible to add the new files to the upcoming Ubuntu 7.4 and does anybody know any reason why the sxw doesn't work?

I'd agree that there's a problem with tex4ht. See my forum post:

Also, see the comment that the Debian package is broken:

A workaround for the problem mentioned at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=453721&highlight=tex4ht:

In your working directory make the following symlink

ln -s /etc/tex4ht/tex4ht.env .tex4ht

Confirmed to happen in 20060913-1build1.

This is due to the texlive transition. TeX now expects /etc/tex4ht to be at /etc/texmf/tex/tex4ht/.

This breaks tex4ht completely, which is why it's high priority.

Is texlive already usable and will tex4ht work with texlive from the sources (feisty)?

The lyx team released a new version last week: 1.5.1

OpenDokument-export works well:
