Bug Description

error in installing / uninstalling software through software center / synaptic / terminal

I have Ubuntu 10.04.3 LTS inside virtualbox. I update it regularly.

Cannot install any software through software center, synaptic or through terminal. Soffware gets downloaded, but the installation fails, but is marked installed

 here is the error.

I tried

 sudo apt-get clean
  sudo apt-get update
  sudo apt-get upgrade

 and

 sudo dpkg --configure -a
  sudo apt-get install -f

 sudo apt-get install -f is also giving error

I solved the problem by removing tex-common

Code:

sudo apt-get remove tex-common

I could install software through Ubuntu Software Center / Synaptic / Terminal

Personally, I think that this is more similar to a dependency problem bug, not an error code 1 bug.
